The Fees and

Finer Details

In terms of payments, we accept cash and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments. If a client has a medical aid, the practice can submit claims to the medical aid, on behalf of the client, after each session. If the client's medical aid does not pay for the session, it is up to the client to settle the account within two weeks of the session.

Alternatively, should a client utilize a medical aid, but not want the practice to claim on their behalf, the client can pay for the session (cash or EFT). After payment has been received, the client will be given a receipt to submit to their medical aid, for reimbursement.

It is important for the client to check with their medical aid to confirm that there are sufficient funds available. Our fees fall within medical aid rates (subject to annual increases).

If a client does not intend claiming from their medical aid, or does not have a medical aid, they can utilize our cash rate, which is a reduced rate. Kindly contact us for further information.

Prescribed Minimum Benefits

Most South African medical aid plans have what is termed a 'Prescribed Minimum Benefit' (PMB), depending on the plan. This means that the client's medical aid can potentially cover out-of-hospital mental healthcare treatment, such as therapy conducted by a registered psychologist.

The PMB application process is required annually and various medical aids have different requirements and conditions in order for the PMB to be granted. We cannot guarantee that the application will be successful, and in such an instance, the client will be liable to pay for the session, in cash or via EFT, at the end of each session.

Depending on the medical aid plan, certain requirements need to be met in order to qualify for a PMB (for example, a requirement could be that a particular diagnosis needs to be met by the client). If a diagnosis is met, this will be communicated to the client in the first session, or when it becomes clear that a diagnosis is met.

The client will be required to pay for the session in cash, via EFT, or from medical aid. Thereafter, a supporting letter/application form can be provided to the client's medical aid to apply for a PMB. This requires disclosing the client's diagnosis to the client's medical aid provider.
