The Journey
My postgraduate counselling journey began in East London, as a high school counsellor, where I spent several years working with adolescents.

I went on to complete a Masters' Degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Fort Hare, where I predominantly worked with primary school learners. My experience working with adolescents fueled my Master's research, which focused on the parental influence on adolescent emotional intelligence.
My internship was completed at the University of Fort Hare Psychological Services Centre, where I provided counselling and psychotherapy to a range of diverse clients.

I currently work at the Rhodes University Counselling Centre in Makhanda, where I provide counselling and psychotherapeutic support to Rhodes University students.

Psychological Approach
In the first session, the context is explored and therapeutic goals are set. These goals are reassessed throughout the process.
In subsequent sessions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-focused Therapy are used to meet therapeutic goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on the link between our thoughts, behavior and feelings in the present, which can include identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking, or behavioral change.
Solution-Focused Therapy focuses on strength and resilience, which aims to find solutions and explores the future, rather than the past.
